Delivering a session too the  Poole Young Carers.  This will be the second session we will have ran. And yBall are have proud to be part of this fun day for the Young Carers

They have worked with over 18,000 vulnerable children and young people last year.

This organization has been going since 1881 now to it’s present from, here is a little history.

In the late nineteenth century, Edward Rudolf, a young Sunday school teacher and civil servant in South London, found himself confronted by the brutal effects of poverty on the lives of children.

When two young boys failed to turn up for his Sunday school, he went to look for them and was shocked to find them begging for food on the streets. Their father had died, leaving their mother struggling to bring up seven children under 11 years old.

Theirs was not an isolated experience and Rudolf was moved to act.

He approached Archbishop Tait to express his concern for children living on the margins of society and suggesting that the Church of England should be at the forefront of social action for such children. The Archbishop agreed enthusiastically and, soon after, the Church of England Central Home for Waifs and Strays was established.

Focused on our five core thematic areas:

1. Young people affected by child sexual exploitation
2. Mental and emotional health
3. Going missing
4. Substance misuse
5. Young people who are affected by issues related to being in care or transitioning out of care

In the last two months yBall has had players in wheel chairs, a player with prosthetic blades, a visually impaired player, plus disability groups. And all these games played at a good tempo. with the visually impaired scoring three goals
They game is a mix of American football, netball, basketball. based around a catch and pivot game.

yBall is played on the beach, in sports hall or on fields, in Dorset when we play on the beach, having BBQ’s in the day or night and then bring out the night vision ball, still playing music with people watching.
Engaging people on the sideline, working to build a new community around a new concept sport that’s social, cardio based and fun.
